Today’s weather went from grey mistiness to rain, to sleet, to hail, to snow, back to sleet, and eventually rain again. I left Ithaca for a reason, people! Mostly because of the whole graduation thing, but also the weather.

I just keep telling myself that in less than 10 days I’ll be under the sunny skies of COSTA RICA!

For the girls out there this is not a sweet thing to say.

Boys like girls in sweat pants because we only see girls in sweat pants when they sleep over or if they are comming over to watch a romantic comedy in your dorm room. These occasions usually lead to sexual relations or at the least some excellent dry humping.

Sweat pants = sex

Thats why we love you in sweat pants. So next time a boy says “you look great in sweat pants” you should respond with a wintery blast of mase..

Because I’m a consumer, and my spending is waaayy up.

I just got back from a 5 hour shopping spree at Short Hills (which, as it turns out, is a rather ritzy mall). I bought:

leather ankle boots (Aldo)
leather pumps (Ann Taylor…only $7!)
2 sweaters (Anthropologie)
skinny jeans (Express)

Everything I bought was on sale, but it was still too much money. Also, the original point of my shopping trip was to buy a new pant/skirt suit, but I couldn’t find one I liked for less than $300, which I decided was over the limit. Oh well.

That’s how I feel right now. I’m running low on funds after all my application fees, but this is the first Saturday without class I’ve had in a loooong time, so I’m going shopping! It’s really just for the benefit of the economy. I’m actually being patriotic.

Go on a search for as many good climbing trees as possible, climb as high as you both can in all of them, compile photo evidence

Go to a major chain bookstore, and leave notes to future readers in copies of your favorite books

Have her dress up as a ghost and you dress uup us Pacman. Walk around downtown holding hands, and whenever anyone sees you two, pretend to be embarrassed, and run off screaming “wocka wocka wocka.”

Create photo evidence suggesting that you went on an adventure that didn’t really happen

Dress up as superherous and stop at least one petty crime “ie. jaywalking, littering….”

Build forts out of furniture and blankets, and wage war with paper airplanes.

Try and visit as many people as you can in one night, and turn as many things inside their apartment upside down as you can, without them noticing.

Go to the airport, get the cheapest, soonest departing flight to anywhere when you show up, and stay there for a weekend.

Write a piece of fiction together. Outside at a cafe. Ask strangers when you get stuck.

Dress to the nines, pretend to be married, and test drive very expensive vehicles at an auto dealership. (Done this, it’s hilarious.)

Do the lamest tourist thing in your area that you have both secretly wanted to do forever. Have an unabashed good time!

In the middle of the night, drive to the beach, so you arrive just as the sun is rising. Have a breakfast picnic, then fall asleep together. Bring a sun umbrella.

Drive somewhere unknown and have dinner in a city you’ve never been to. With fake names.

Go to a minor league baseball game under the stars. Tell each other stories about how bad you are at athletics. Randomly cheer for both teams. Eat lots of Cracker Jack.

Go around the city with sidewalk chalk and draw hearts with equations inside on random things

Walk around a city and perform short silent plays in front of security cameras

With camera and pair of boots, make photolog of a day in the life of the invisible man.

Walk around the city all night and find a place to eat breakfast at dawn

Go to a restraunt and convince the cook to create something completely new for you.

Rent a movie you’ve never seen before. Set on mute and improvise dialogue.

I apologize if this has been posted before. I think it might be my new goal to try all of these things within the next five years (or less).

#3 is my favorite. Definitely laugh-out-loud worthy.

What if the 2000 presidential election had hinged not on a diverse, messy, weird and slightly creepy hick state like Florida but on the most organized, practical and cordial one in the Union: Minnesota? What if, instead of going to court after court over hanging chads and butterfly ballots and whether a recount should happen, election officials had just calmly looked at each ballot and tried to figure out what the voter wanted?

That’s exactly what’s going on in Minnesota, where 2.9 million voters left Senator Norm Coleman just 215 votes ahead of Saturday Night Live star Al Franken. Since then, both sides have politely allowed a legally required hand recount to take place, one with very clearly specified rules and no scheduled end date. But the recount ended on Dec. 5, just as Minnesota’s secretary of state said it would, and the result didn’t differ much from the initial count. “We didn’t have to do a lot of overtime,” says Cindy Reichert, the elections director of Minneapolis. “We did do some evenings. But we’re very organized.”

It’s about time ‘sota got some credit for being the great state that it is. Also, I like this part of the article:
